Masterclass in writing minutes of meetings

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A meeting loses its value and wastes time if it is not documented in the correct manner. With the passage of the 2019 Revised Corporation Code, there are strict guidelines on how the minutes of meetings should be recorded that must be aligned with SEC regulations.

To help organizations on their compliance, the Center for Global Best Practices will hold a SEC-accredited program titled, “Masterclass in Writing Minutes of Meetings” on Dec. 6 and 7.

With the current climate of greater accountability of board directors and management in decisions made during meetings, every organization needs trained experts with the right skills to take minutes effectively.

The two-session webinar is designed to make meetings efficient and its outcomes effective through a step-by-step guide from preparing the documentation and its physical requirements of a meeting, to agenda-setting, to using standard terminology in taking down notes.

The learning methodology for the training includes an interactive approach on instructions, discussions, and exercises.

The program   will teach participants the best practices in taking minutes and provide them vital information on the legal guidelines and regulations on meetings mandated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Learn from CGBP course director and expert practitioner lawyer Danny Espejo Bunyi. He is a certified compliance officer (CCO), certified by the American Academy of Financial Management.

He is a senior partner and group head of corporate and special projects at Divina Law.  His expertise ranges from corporate banking and finance, insurance, trust, and special projects with emphasis on regulatory compliance (AMLC, SEC, IC, etc.), to mergers and acquisitions, corporate housekeeping, financing documentation, cross-border transactions, and trust operations and investments.

His previous positions include having been a senior vice president at the Development Bank of the Philippines, first vice president and chief compliance officer at Robinsons Bank, and first vice president and head of the legal services group of Robinsons Savings Bank.

Registration is open to the general public and is highly recommended for board directors, corporate secretary and their assistants, minute-takers, and everyone interested to learn this topic.
