Tantocos to bring in Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant

MANILA, Philippines — Tantoco-led luxury retailer SSI Group Inc. is bringing in the Michelin-star restaurant brand Crystal Jade as it continues to expand its retail portfolio in the Philippines.

After opening the first Shake Shack burger joint in Manila last year, SSI is now bringing in the Chinese restaurant brand as it has entered into a territory agreement with Crystal Jade Management Pte Ltd.

The agreement will cover Crystal Jade’s successful international concepts such as Crystal Jade Golden Palace, Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao and Crystal Jade GO.

Crystal Jade serves authentic Chinese cuisine to contemporary audiences in different countries.

Douglas DeBoer, CEO of Crystal Jade Culinary Concepts Holdings, said the company is excited to partner with SSI, which has already successfully brought iconic international brands to the Philippines.

“Crystal Jade is dedicated to bringing authentic, quality Chinese cuisine to contemporary audiences around the world and we look forward to delighting consumers across the Philippines very soon,” DeBoer said.

The group has a portfolio of specialty dining concepts ranging from fine dining to casual dining and quick-service restaurants with over 100 outlets in 30 major cities across Asia Pacific.

Of the different international formats, Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen will be the first of the concepts to be launched by SSI in the country.

Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen is targeted to open in the first quarter of 2020 in Central Square in Bonifacio Global City.

SSI president Anthony Huang said the group is excited to partner with Crystal Jade to open their unique international Crystal Jade restaurant formats in the Philippines.
