MANILA, Philippines — An internet company based in Australia is offering its service to the Philippine market as its sees huge potential demand particularly in the social media space.

Rose Velasco, managing partner for Internet Removals Philippines, said while they specialize in helping out businesses and companies in cleaning up content from the internet, they are seeing a large pool of potential clients from among the millions of Filipino internet users who have a lot of past regrettable posts they now want removed from the world wide web.

“We specialize in the removal of illegal content,  usually it falls under the definition of defamatory, copyright infringement and image based  abuse,” she said.

“Being alive in a time where we’re now able to freely say what we want to say and however we want to say it is a blessing,” Velasco said. “However, it’s so easy now for things to get lost in translation and taken out of context.”

“At Internet Removals, we help people deal with these unfortunate circumstances,” she added.

Officially established in 2015, Internet Removals offers its services to companies and individuals who want false, harmful, defamatory, potentially illegal or personal information removed from Google, social media sites such as Facebook, community groups, web forums and websites around the globe.

It also offers other services such as content monitoring, digital footprint analysis and account recovery or removal.

The company said it had removed more than 55,000 URLs for thousands of clients so far.

“Our content removal application process has successfully removed all types of content on over 55,421 occasions. We provide our clients this service whereby we draft, submit and manage applications for the removal of potentially illegal content from the internet,” it said.

Among the examples of content it removed are negative reviews, revenge porn, doxing, film piracy, counterfeiting, unauthorized social media pages, impersonation and spam reviews.
