MANILA, Philippines — It has been well over a month since we’ve been under lockdown. How are you holding up? It really is a strange time to be alive, with the novel coronavirus keeping all of us in the confines of our homes, but still leaving us ample time to reflect on what’s important during all this uncertainty.
Here at YStyle, we’ve kept ourselves busy (and more importantly, indoors), so you can trust that we’ve been trying out new things in the kitchen — and even in our bedrooms. In today’s Look of the Week, we find inspiration in Viktor & Rolf’s haute couture fall/winter 2018 look that appears to be sewn from a duvet and pillows. Weird? We say wonderfully appropriate.

Art matters now more than ever, as exhibited by illustrator and YStyle collaborator, Tom Bucag. Two weeks ago, the mixed media artist hosted an Instagram sale of his melancholic muses to help fund relief efforts to frontliners and selected institutions. The first out of three series sold out within the day and if you’re a fan of his work, you’ll be pleased to know that the second series will be available to purchase today.

Staying home indefinitely doesn’t mean that shopping for your favorite brands has to stop.

Stream: London Fashion Week
The show must go on. The second fashion week every fashion month is the first to go digital-only during this crisis. The first gender-neutral London Fashion Week goes live on June 12 at londonfashionweek.co.uk.
London is hardly the first to do so: Tokyo livestreamed its fashion week shows in March, but it’s the first of four fashion capitals to make the choice.
Right before Italy went on lockdown as the COVID-19 outbreak erupted in the middle of Milan Fashion Week, Giorgio Armani streamed his AW20 collection to a global audience. It was a move that now feels like the future. Of course, avant-garde designers Hussein Chalayan, Gareth Pugh and Viktor & Rolf have done it before. But they did it out of choice, not because of health concerns. In light of the COVID-19, all that has changed as we all get front-row access to shows by brands like Burberry and designers like Vivienne Westwood and Victoria Beckham from the comfort of our homes — even dressed in decidedly non-couture pajamas.

While some contemplate how to give themselves bangs during lockdown, others have taken their isolation ‘dos to bright new heights. Feeling the itch but not ready to commit to change?
