Exhibit puts spotlight on Kyrie Irving's Anta signature kicks
MANILA, Philippines -- Abstract art pieces showcasing Anta’s STG Shock Wave 5 Pro PE "Kyrie Pack" were exhibited in Makati City Thursday, ahead of the shoes’ release this weekend.
The exhibition by Marclen Ricafort-Chulani, “Untitled,” was showcased Thursday afternoon at the Ronac Lifestyle Center in Makati City.
There, art pieces showed the five colorways of the "Kyrie Pack," -- Sun, Moon, Focus, Strength and Speed.
Ricafort-Chulani, in an interview, said she basically created the art pieces from scratch.
“Here, I had an opportunity to make a painting for each colorway, for each Kyrie pack and you know I had one picture to look at of the shoes and I just kinda went with it,” she said.
“I pretty much did it from scratch. I had one side of the shoe because it’s one picture. But, it was a good challenge because I found another side of me that I didn’t know I could do, it was very abstract,” she added.
Ricafort-Chulani added that she was able to get to know perhaps one of the best ball-handlers in NBA history, Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks, more while doing the exhibit.
“It was really nice to really get to know Kyrie more in a sense that I did my research, I watched his videos, I kinda researched when he signed with Anta already and just watched his recent videos. It all came together.”
Last year, Irving signed a deal with Anta for five years. This came after the end of his partnership with Nike.
Last week, Irving debuted the Anta Kai 1 in-game, his first Anta signature shoe.
The STG Shock Wave 5 Pro PE "Kyrie Pack" is expected to be released on Saturday, February 17th.
Each pair is priced at P9,995.
