MANILA, Philippines — Adamson Soaring Falcons head coach Nash Racela isn’t in any rush to see his players grow into their potential as they notched back-to-back wins in UAAP Season 86.

Though now sporting a 2-1 record across three games, Adamson’s victories came with a lot of challenges — as both wins were in overtime.

Faced with less than ideal circumstances with his stalwart Jerom Lastimosa continuing to miss games because of injury, Racela welcomes the challenge of waiting for his players to grow.

“I’d say it’s a struggle on maturity,” he said after the game.

“Joem [Sabandal] played well in the end last game. Today, he was trying to duplicate it. If you’re mature enough, then you won’t force the issue,” he added.

Still, against the Ateneo Blue Eagles, cooler heads prevailed as they were able to take the win at the horn, 74-71, off of a Vince Magbuhos game-winner.

Catching big fish in Ateneo this time around, the tactician believes they are on their way to being more confident in what they can do.

“As a group, I think, they’re starting to believe in themselves. Before one of the games, one of my notes sa board was really not to be surprised when you do things correctly, don’t be surprised that you’re going to win, don’t be surprised that you’re leading, don’t be surprised that you’re winning,” he said.

“I hope with this game today, they start really believing in what they can do as a team and as individuals.”

Adamson will look to continue their upward tick when they face the DLSU Green Archers on Wednesday, October 11, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
