Carey retires after 17 years with TNT

MANILA, Philippines — Fil-Am forward Harvey Carey has called it a day after 17 seasons in the PBA, the TNT Tropang Giga announced yesterday.
The 41-year-old Carey, a TNT player through and through, made the decision to join his family for good in San Francisco after the last Philippine Cup bubble in Clark, Pampanga.
TNT governor Ricky Vargas expressed gratitude to Carey for his “loyalty, honesty, and contributions” to the team.
“He has been a quiet pillar of strength in building the TNT culture,” said Vargas.
The 6-foot-3 Carey recorded the longest tenure for a player in the Tropang Giga roster.
Selected fourth overall in 2003, the Sonoma State alumnus won seven PBA titles with the PLDT franchise. He was named to the PBA Mythical Second Team in 2003, All-Defensive Team a year later and to the All-Star game in 2011.
Carey was a member of the crew that captured TNT’s maiden PBA crown in the 2003 All-Filipino.
