SMB's Austria to Romeo: Be matured
QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Coach Leo Austria's San Miguel Beermen were clicking on all cylinders in their 108-101 bounce-back win over Magnolia in Game Two of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Friday.
It was a team effort from the Beermen that eventually doomed Magnolia.
Seven of Austria's cagers finished in double figures, including Terrence Romeo.
But it wasn't all smooth sailing for Romeo in Game Two. The fiery guard was whistled for two technical fouls in the middle of the fourth quarter and was automatically ejected.
His mentor Austria chose to see it in a positive light.
"Romeo is really a warrior. He wants to win very badly and he wants to show something. But we will tell him na it’s not the way how to win the games," Austria said after their game two victory.
The SMB tactician was understanding of Romeo's actions but maintains that the cager must learn to control his emotions.
"That is a sign na ayaw niya na malalamangan but of course this is a basketball game sometimes nalalamangan ka, minsan hindi," Austria said.
"He should be matured. Slowly, I think makukuha niya yun," he added.
Austria and the Beermen hope to take the 2-1 series lead over Magnolia when they meet again for Game Three on Sunday.
