Denison Rey A. Dalupang - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Mighty Sports Philippines booked their semifinals ticket in the Merlion Cup Friday at the expense of a hapless Westports Malaysia Dragons side, 105-75, at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.

Imports Matthew Wright and Dewarick Spencer led the Philippines with 20 and 16 points, respectively. Joseph Yeo added 14 to help tow the nationals to the top of Group B action.

Riding on its championship-winning momentum in the Jones Cup, Mighty Sports made mincemeat of the Asian Basketball League champions Dragons.

The Malaysians narrowed it down to just five but weren’t able to wrest the lead from the Filipinos, who led throughout the match.

Mighty Sports beat Seoul Samsung Thunders on Wednesday, 92-87. The latter takes on the winner of the Singapore Slingers and Shanghai Sharks match.
