Romeo’s star continues to shine brighter in Changsha

CHANGSHA – With his experience and exposure in this Asian meet, Terrence Romeo could well be a much, much better player in his return to his Globalport team in the PBA.

A sensation in the Jones Cup and also having a good number of followings here, Romeo could also be bound to be among the PBA’s biggest crowd draws.

“Globalport has got its franchise player; a new PBA star was born here,” a PBA official said.

“Like Junmar Fajardo, Terrence will improve leaps and bounds because of his experience here,” said Gilas coach Tab Baldwin.

“He’s still got a long way to go but he’s getting better, he’s getting there,” Baldwin also said.

On Tuesday, Romeo once again stepped forward and led the way in their 99-65 walloping of India.

“It’s been quite a tournament for Terrence. He came to life against Iran and again today, helping us out in the first half,” said Baldwin.

“Our energy kept us in the game. Guys like Calvin Abueval Marc Pingris, Matt Ganuelas, Ranidel de Ocampo, Jayson Castro kept our noses in front. In the second half, the same guys gave us a lot of energy and good result. Terrence was in the middle of all of that,” Baldwin added.

Romeo ran a show, putting in 11 points in the first half and adding 10 in the second half.

For Baldwin, one important thing is Romeo identifying what he’s got to do as a court general.

Romeo has proved to be a very able option at point guard spot, averaging a team third-best of 14.7 points an outing.

The former FEU star also norms 2.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.5 steals and a 43.6-percent 3-point shooting.
