De Leon CCC prexy

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Philippines – The College Country Club (CCC), the 47-year-old association of tennis enthusiasts in the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) complex here, has elected its officers for 2012.

New president Ryan Carlo de Leon succeeded Dr. Arnold Elepaño, dean of the UPLB-College of Engineering and Agricultural Technology (CEAT).

Other CCC officers are Cesar Quicoy of the UPLB College of Economics and Management (vice president), Jonathan Bernardo (secretary), Yasmin Andal-Cariaso (treasurer) and Fernando Paras Jr. (recreation director).

Advisers are Dante de Padua, retired CEAT dean, and Ramon Valmayor, retired executive director of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development.

Founded in 1964, CCC has as its members officials, scientists, professors, and staff members of some of the Los Baños-based international, regional, and national academic and research entities that compose the Los Baños Science Community (LBSC).

Among the LBSC members are UP Los Baños, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), and agencies under the Departments of Science and Technology (DOST), Agriculture (DA), and Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
