DELeague: Army scuttles MBL selection

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Army demolished the Marist Basketball League Selection, 106-83, and notched its third straight victory in the DELeague commercial basketball tournament at the Marikina Sports Park basketball gym last Tuesday.

Jhun Malapit scored 17 points as Army kept its unbeaten run in the league backed by Cherifer Premium Caps, PCA, Pocari Sweat, Orahex, Tropicee Tablet-Vit C., SM Marikina, Tutor 911, Coca-Cola, Boeing Gym, Simply Delicious, Hobe Bihon, Luyong Panciteria, St. Patrick’s College London and Chef Mackies Party Needs.

Felix Doroquez came away with 16 points but failed to draw solid support from the rest of the team as the MBL Selection reeled to its fifth loss against a lone victory.

Meanwhile, Juson Quality Tapes subdued St. Patrick’s- Edseca, 107-102, to tie its victim at 2-3.

Aries Gumabay of Juson scored 21 points while Marlon Basco of St. Patrick’s-Edseca shot 20 points.

According to commissioner Sonny Manucat III, action is expected to be fierce in the semifinal round. Games are held every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the gym entrance at P10 each.
