LSGH chases another title in Samsung interscholastic

-

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle Green Hills sets out for another title chase in the Samsung Interscholastic Golf Championships, which gets going June 8 at the north course of the Canlubang golf complex in Laguna.

The LSGH golfers, led by Miguel Yee, Inigo Raymundo and Jiro Ramos, dominated high school play last year, sweeping the top two places while ruling the grade school side to capture the overall championship in the 10th staging of the annual event.

La Salle also took the plum in the college division of the 54-hole tournament played under the Modified Stableford (Molave) scoring system, nipping archrival Ateneo by just three points in the five-to-play, three-to-count tournament sponsored by top electronics firm Samsung in its continuing effort to help develop the sport from the youth level.

St. Paul’s College-Pasig, meanwhile, will defend its crown in the college/high school girls side while Assumption College is the team to beat in the grade school girls’ category of the event, supported by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines, Airphil Express, the official airline, Microtel, Inquirer Golf, Glucos Care Herbal Tea, Custom Clubmakers, Omnisource International and Titleist and managed by Bluemansion Company.

Other schools in the fold are Ateneo, Brent International School, St. Benilde, De La Salle-Zobel, Don Bosco College, Lyceum, Miriam College, St. Pedro Poveda College, Sacred Heart School Ateneo De Cebu, Southville Foreign University, Xavier School and Young Ji International School.
