O. B. Montessori team rules interschool jungolf

-
The O.B. Montessori Professional High School, with jungolf standout Jayvie Agojo at the helm, once again emerged champion in the Philippine Junior Golf Federation Interschool Championship girls’ team event held recently at Tagaytay Highlands, Navy Golf Club and Canlubang courses.

Agojo, whose string of victories here and abroad make her the most promising female golfer in the country, teamed up with Jeizelle and Johan Pajara, Ralph Chua, Migo Ochoa, James Bartolome, Emilio Fernande IV and Xandrea Dizon to give their school its second crown since joining the PJGF since 1999.

The Pajaras, grandchildren of golf enthusiast Jaime Pajara, are training under pro Benjie Magada while Chua is under the tutelage of Asian PGA veteran Dan Cruz. The rest of the team members are regular competitors in the local jungolf scene.

Ranged against teams from La Salle Greenhills, La Salle Zobel, Colegio de San Agustin, Southville International, Ann Arbor Montessori, Brent and St. Benedict College, O.B. Montessori flaunted its awesome firepower early on with Agojo leading the way with 45 points. Dizon chipped in 40 and Jeizelle Pajara 19 as the team pooled together 104 points under the Molave System of scoring.

School principal Iluminada Duran organized the team in 1999 with the help of activity director Gerard Sangco and faculty member Jose Mari dela Peña. Under their guidance, the players took time out of their busy school schedules to hold practice in the different venues.

"The kids are showing the stuff future golf stars are made of and we’re very excited about it. We expect more noteworthy feats in the coming days of the tournament which is a lifetime commitment on our part," said PJGF president Edgardo "Boy" Cantada.
