Heraldo Filipino reaps awards for DLSU-D

MANILA, Philippines - Heraldo Filipino (HF), the official student publication of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), once again brought honor and pride to DLSU-D when they bagged awards in the recently concluded Region IV-A Higher Education Press Conference held on Dec. 9-11 at Batis Aramin Resort and Hotel in Lucban, Quezon.

For the Broadsheet category, HF placed second in the Best News Page and Best Opinion/Editorial Page. They grabbed the third place in the Best Sports Page and Best Broadsheet categories, while they came in fourth in the Best Devcom Page, Best Page Design, and Best Feature/Literary Page.

Moreover, the Heraldo Filipino team composed of Ana Elisha Cortez, Cathlea Rosas, Myka Jolola, Millicent Andres and Krisha Lou Doliente ranked 4th in the on-the-spot Desktop Publishing contest.

In the individual categories, on the other hand, our campus journalists competed against 46 other representatives from various tertiary schools in the region. They are Ana Elisha Cortez, first place in Feature Writing (Filipino); Patrick Quintos, 2nd place in Poetry Writing (English), and 6th place in Column Writing (Filipino); Cathlea Rosas, 2nd place in Poetry Writing (Filipino); Paul Amiel Salonga, 2nd place in Column Writing (English), and 6th place in Editorial Writing (English); and Rizza Mendoza, 7th place in Copyreading and Headline Writing (Filipino), and 9th place in Newswriting (Filipino). Cortez, Quintos, Rosas and Salonga qualified to represent Region IV-A to the Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference in February 2010 in Laoag City.
