MANILA, Philippines — Tropical cyclone In-fa has intensified into a typhoon while moving outside the Philippine area of responsibility, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA said that as of 4 p.m. yesterday, In-fa was spotted 1,780 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, packing winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gusts of 160 kph.

The cyclone was seen moving northward at 15 kph.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja said In-fa may not enter PAR as it was moving toward the North Pacific Ocean.

Meanwhile, the easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Bicol, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar as well as Marinduque and Quezon.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies and light rains due to the northeast monsoon, which will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos, parts of Cagayan Valley and the Cordilleras.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
