7 nabbed for sowing violence during Quezon City clearing operation

MANILA, Philippines — Seven people were arrested for allegedly sowing violence during a clearing operation at a slum area in Quezon City on Thursday.
Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, Quezon City Police District director, said suspects Romeo, Wilson, Alvin, Joemari, Mark, Adrian and Virgil were apprehended and charged for direct assault, resistance and disobedience to persons in authority and obstruction of justice.
Silvio said the seven were among the people who hurled stones, wood and bottles to police officers along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan, an incident that left 21 police officers injured.
“We urge residents to cooperate with authorities and refrain from obstructing lawful police activities. Those who violate the law will be held accountable,” Silvio said in a statement.
The Quezon city government plans to build seven 12-story residential buildings for the fire victims in the area.
