2 killed in Cotabato gun attack

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Motorcycle-riding assailants shot dead a boxing coach and his trainee in Antipas, Cotabato on Sunday.

Joel Abendaño and his student, Aikeeh John Anthony Necor, were walking along a busy street when they were killed by motorcycle-riding men.

Abendaño, personnel of the Antipas municipal disaster risk reduction and management office, died instantly from multiple gunshot wounds.

Necor died while being treated in a hospital, where Abendaño was also taken.

Friends and relatives of Abendaño told journalists that he had no known enemies.

The victim was a known boxing instructor, who train students not only from Antipas, but also from nearby towns.
