2 die in South Cotabato road mishap

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines — Two persons died while 19 others were injured in a vehicular smashup in Tupi, South Cotabato on Friday.

Diamaloden Makasaehe, 28, and his son Jannaiden, 19, died at the scene of the accident that occurred at around 6 p.m. along General Santos-Koronadal Highway.

The injured victims included passengers of the vehicles involved in the accident and pedestrians who were hit by a truck that caused the smashup.

The truck driver said the vehicle developed engine trouble, causing him to lose control of the wheel.

The municipal government of Tupi and the office of South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. extended assistance to the victims, who were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
