MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics officers confiscated 60 kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P408 million in Mexico, Pampanga on Wednesday afternoon.

Chinese citizens Wenjie Chen, 45, a resident of Gerona in Tarlac, and Sy Yan Qing, 42, of Angeles City were arrested in Barangay Divisoria at around 1:45 p.m., Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) director Brig. Gen. Narciso Domingo said in a report.

PDEG said the suspects negotiated a deal with undercover agents in front of the Lakeshore along the North Luzon Expressway.

Aside from the illegal drugs placed in Chinese tea bags, a cell phone, which the suspects used in their transactions, identification cards and documents were reportedly recovered from the suspects.

The two were brought to the PDEG’s National Capital Region field office in Taguig City, where they are being held on charges of drug trafficking.

The suspects were said to be behind drug trafficking in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.

Meanwhile, in Bacolod City, 150 grams of shabu worth P1.02 million were recovered from Marcial de los Santos Jr., 49, a resident of Iloilo City, at the Bredco port.

The Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Philippine National Police conducted the operation after De los Santos  refused to have his belongings checked before boarding a roll-on, roll-off ferry.
