MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were arrested for allegedly selling unregistered COVID-19 test kits in Binondo, Manila on Tuesday.

Jerrold Vinuya, 24, and Roland Paul Diaz, 25, were nabbed by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) during a sting along San Vicente street in Barangay 291.

Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, chief of the CIDG National Capital Region field office, said 15 boxes of Clungene antigen test kits worth P23,000 were seized from the suspects.

Silvio said they conducted the operation after receiving information that the suspects were selling unregistered COVID-19 test kits.

Charges of violation of Republic Act 8711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act will be filed against Vinuya and Diaz, police said.

Fake vax cards

Meanwhile, three suspects were nabbed for allegedly selling fake vaccination cards in Quiapo, Manila on Tuesday night.

Ricardo Lugtu, Rafael Cayabyab and Samil Asmadi were placed under arrest after they were caught selling vaccination cards for P500 each, police said.

Charges of falsification of public documents and violation of the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act are being readied against the suspects.
