Teen bludgeons mother to death

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A 16-year-old boy allegedly attacked his parents with a hammer, killing his mother in Anini-y, Antique on Saturday night.

Mildred Datuin, 52, died while being treated at a hospital, where she and her husband Rolly were brought for treatment of head injuries.

Reports said the couple were preparing to go to sleep at their house in Barangay Magdalena when their son allegedly hit them with a hammer in the head.

Although wounded, Rolly managed to run away and sought the help of their relatives. His father in-law Francisco Seduco responded, but the boy had fled.

Police arrested the boy the following day after a relative saw him in a nearby barangay.

Seduco said his grandson could have been depressed as the parents did not allow him to go out so he could focus on answering his modules.
