Police disperse teachers’ protest

MANILA, Philippines — Police dispersed yesterday protesters pushing education reforms ahead of World Teachers’ Day.
Members of ACT Teachers party-list held a protest near Malacañang calling for higher salaries for teachers and increased government funding for education.
Police and security personnel dispersed the rallyists just minutes after the protest began.
Authorities also confiscated the group’s megaphone. Some protesters fell during the dispersal.
The teachers’ group criticized authorities for stopping their protest.
