Police precinct head relieved over QC shooting spree

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano has sacked the police official who heads the police precinct that has jurisdiction over the area where the shooting spree happened last Sunday.

Albano immedietaly relieved Police Chief Inspector Ramon Cabili as North Fairview Police Community Precinct commander for the shooting spree which resulted in the killing of seven persons.

Police Senior Superintendent Dennis de Leon, station commander of North Farview, said he will install  Chief Inspector Roldante Sarmiento to replace Cabili.

"Inihahanda na rin yung kaso sa kanya (Cabili) at pinag explain namin sya kung bakit hindi siya agad nakapag react sa mga insidente," De Leon told philSTAR.com.

Police are now looking into some groups that might be responsible for the shooting spree in Quezon City Sunday early dawn.

Supt. Rodel Marcelo, Quezon City Police Distric-Criminial Investigation and Detection Unit head, hopes to identify a particular group within the week.

"May tinututukan na tayong grupo, suspects. Hopefully magkaroon ng resulta ngayong linggo," Marcelo said.

Police suspect that the gunmen were high on drugs and indiscriminately shot the victims as they drove past them.

During the shooting spree, two motorycle-riding gunmen shot dead Rodelio Dela Cruz, 34, of Baesa; Alodia Grace Go, 37, of North Fairview; Gilmer Gabronino, 35, of Caloocan City and Angelie Auguis, 35, of Imus Cavite, and a still unidentified victim.

The assailants first shot Dela Cruz in front of the office of Power Grid Electric Corp, beside an apartelle in Commonwealth Ave., North Fairview.

The suspects then targeted Grace Go who was waiting for a vehicle in the corner of Bronx St. at Regalado Ave, in North Fairview. Both Gabronino and Auguis were riding on a motorcycle when shot by the suspects.

Two more victims have yet to be identified by authorities.  - with Iza Iglesias
