The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Girls are definitely going places. Some, as my girl Iggy Azalea says in Work, are “tryna get dat rich” in their respective jobs, hustling hard. Some are leaving said jobs to jet off to great grad schools across the globe to trick out their skill set and, well, try to make it in America. (Or wherever.) And still some are leaving said jobs to live the life I not-so-secretly continue to dream about: that of the lady of leisure, lounging around post-Pilates in Stella McCartney for Adidas workout wear, lunching with amigas, day in and day out. (“You’ll get bored!” say all of my friends who are card-carrying tai tais, columnist Ana Kalaw included.) It's a big world out there, and we're going to get whatever we want. This issue of YStyle brings you an editorial from some of those aforementioned grad students in New York, a fashionista from Berlin, and a firsthand account of the Thailand tai tai life (so you, me, and all the hardworking girls who want it can decide if it's truly what we want — not that it's easy to find a financier, mind you) for a spectrum of career path perspectives. Whichever one you end up choosing, wherever you end up tomorrow or the day after that, we promise you one thing: We’re going to keep you decked out in style. — Regina Belmonte
