- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At this point, we’re a little relieved that some of the country’s biggest companies are taking on a significant role in helping to distribute relief goods to flood victims. However, there’s still a lot you can do either as a donor without risking your own safety. Here’s how, courtesy of Rappler.com:

• You may choose the following methods of donating to the Philippine Red Cross.

1. Simply log on to Multiply.com, choose the denomination that you would like to donate (P100, P500, and P1000), choose the quantity, click “Buy Now,” then choose from the following payment options: Visa, BDO, MasterCard, BPI, PayPal, and Globe G-Cash.

2. Smart subscribers may send donations to Red Cross via SMS. Text RED <amount> to 4143. (10, 25, 50, 100, 300, 500, 1000).

3. Globe Telecom is waiving their transaction fees for donations made via G-Cash. To donate, text DONATE <amount> <4-digit M-PIN> REDCROSS to 2882.

4. LBC branches will serve as as drop-off centers for the Red Cross. You may take your donations for flood victims to the nearest branch.

• The Citizens’ Disaster Response Center is accepting donations for families affected by the floods. Donations can be dropped at 72-A Times Street, West Triangle Homes, Quezon City. The disaster management group can be reached at tel. nos. (02) 929-9820 to 22.

• The Gawad Kalinga Command Center for relief operations for North NCR is at HRD Training Ctr, DAR Compound QC. Contact (0999)188-9683, (0906) 419-2016 and (0922) 848-3806 for more information.

• McDonald’s stores open in Metro Manila are now accepting donations in kind (rice, noodles, canned goods, etc.) for flood victims.

• Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) stores nationwide (Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, and Mang Inasal) are accepting cash donations through Jollibee Foundation coin banks at the counters. Donations received will be used to assist families affected by the torrential rains and flooding.

• Ayala Malls is accepting donations for flood victims. These may be handed over to Concierge booths in all Ayala Malls.

• You may also call GMA Kapuso Foundation’s telethon hotline 981-1950 to donate.
