MANILA, Philippines - It’s not every day that you get to profess your crush on a national broadsheet. It’s somewhat of a sensitive thing really, especially for Scorpios like myself, and Patrick Galang of Mega who was initially reluctant to reveal who his was — well, at least on the physical scale. But it’s also not just about having a physical crush per se. It’s about the je ne sais quoi, that unexplainable magnetism that draws you to a certain individual, whether or not you just recently met. It could be a visual merchandiser like Tina Ong whose black-and-white sensibilities become a vision of calm for visual artist Dee Jae Pa’Este who is constantly surrounded with color. It could also be that after a string of “models begetting models” thereby widening the aesthetic divide, someone like Alisa Sazanova chooses a mortal crush in a waiflike fashion editor.

So we tried to map out a chain of sorts in a land where everyone is within six degrees of separation from everyone else (now made less by social media). We feature people’s artistic/intellectual/professional crushes, and in turn, ask those people who their crushes were. And so on, and so forth. In some cases, the chain split into two. But as with most things, it actually went full circle. How about that?—Toff De Venecia
