Young Star

Where inspiration begins

-

MANILA, Philippines - Whoever said that you can’t have it all had it wrong. Brothers Phil and James Younghusband do have it all — the 5,000 mega-watt smile, the stellar career as international football stars and, of course, the excellent education. The Younghusbands were both educated at Brooklands College, an institution boasting world-class qualifications.

Valuing the individual is one of the strong points of UK society, and Phil and James attest to this. In a class predominantly made up of Brits, they were the only ones with Asian blood. When asked what the benefit was of being Filipino, Phil answers, “We were the only ones there with Asian blood; without the Asian blood we wouldn’t have these looks, we wouldn’t have these eyes.”

Phil and James had a great time at Brooklands College. Education in the UK allowed them to be themselves, to achieve their dreams outside the classroom and to realize their potential.

Phil excitedly recalls, “I’ve had girlfriends, but you can go on and meet new people, build connections and relationships, not only girlfriends, but people who can help in the future, like getting a job.”

Phil and James built lifelong relationships studying in the UK, and this definitely helped them on their journey to where they are now.

A UK Education

Phil and James both endorse getting an education in the UK. The United Kingdom is a melting pot of the world’s cultures, diverse and so colorful that everyone blends in and no one stands out.

The whole English learning environment provides its students with inspiration to do well and excel in their studies. Education in the UK is characterized by tradition, matched by innovation.

Education in the UK gives you the freedom to choose from a thousand courses that suit your interests, career path and passions. James took up graphics and physical education, while Phil took up math mechanics (pure maths), physical education, and an additional information technology course.

“If I hadn’t gone to school in the UK, I wouldn’t have signed up with Chelsea,” said Phil. “If I didn’t play for Chelsea I wouldn’t be playing for the Philippine team, and if I didn’t play for the Philippine team, I wouldn’t be in this industry (modeling) now, so everything that I’ve done has led to everything that I am now. So I don’t regret the school I went to and the education I received — it taught me to have a good sense of discipline and time management.”
