Moony ruled The Black Parade

MEANWHILE - Michelle Katigbak -

Ear candy is the only word that  comes to mind on the night of The Black Parade at The Fort Open Field as Clear brought back to the Philippines one of house music’s finest performers. Behind the hit tracks Points of View, Acrobats, For Your Love and Dove (I’ll Be Loving You), Monica “Moony” Bragato made a sensational return at the biggest, most seductive event of the year. Now I don’t know about you, but I was once hypnotized by Moony’s catchy lyrics and funky beats and I knew a lot of people were excited about seeing her again. Almost as excited as she was to be back.

“I am very pleased to play again in front of the Filipino Crowd. They are the kindest people in the world. And I love the words they speak, like salamat,” said the international sensation, the word she yelled out to the crowd after her performance.

And that was just the highlight of the day. Clear presented a full day of fun with sounds that serenaded the grounds of The Fort Open Field as a wide platter of resonance was served throughout the day. With the start of the rally against red, steady beats from bass drums mixed with signal horns made their way into the venue with gusto and fervor. This was followed by a striking performance from seasoned drum and bugle group Lancer; then the crowd got into the cheering spirit as Clear’s 200 dancers performed their hip and stylish routine with performance precision. From the last notes of the mixed music of the dancers’ routine, to the electric guitar riffs shredding out as Piolo Pascual flew onto the stage for an out-of-the-box entrance gimmick — what an event!

Then as the sun went down, the hip and hyper music from the schools competing at the first-ever mixed formation and dance competition was replaced by the percussion-packed music of Tribo Manila. Crowds began to gather in front of the stage as the people felt the rush when Tribo Manila’s set came to a close.

And like a well-oiled machine, the crowd welcomed, with loud cheers and arms waving in the air, the international house diva Moony. She treated her Filipino fans, singing all her dance hits from Point of View to Flying Away, along with other remixed tracks that kept the crowd asking for more. And like honest and appreciative guests, the crowd happily sang along with Moony to most of her songs. And, also loyal to her fans, Moony thanked the massive crowd for their hospitality and their warm welcome and great vibe. The artist’s performance level was off the hook, even more of a rush than the performance she gave years ago.

From first to last, it was all ear candy. From the moment of the first drumbeat to the last fireworks, nothing else can be said but that our ears definitely had a treat at The Clear Black Parade. Indeed, you never know when you’ll be struck by the seduction of black.
