‘Terno Au Go Go’ and new Sago video

- Igan D’Bayan -
Those who think rock n’ roll is dead in this country (what with rampant R&B vocal histrionics, interminable covers and shameless, barefaced plagiarism) better think again.

A trip-hop band – with a video that made this writer drop everything he was doing (painting atrocious night-visions, nose-picking, etc.) – is releasing its debut album.

Terno Recordings is launching Up Dharma Down’s "Fragmented" at the "Terno Au Go Go" gig (tomorrow, 7 p.m., at Cubao X, Marikina Shoe Expo, Araneta Center, Cubao), which also features Radioactive Sago Project, Juan Pablo Dream, Drip, Wahijuara, Daydream Cycle, Giniling Festival, Blazing Bulalakaws, Nyko Maca, Salindiwa, Paramita, Terno ’Olstars, The Late Isabel, The Sleepyheads, Severo, Reklamo, Soul Connection, and Death By Tampon.

"Listen to the sound of substance," says Toti Dalmacion. Hey, we’re all ears, since we’re sick-to-death of The Care rip-off.

Speaking of substance, the rock-jazz-punk-funk band Radioactive Sago Project has a music video out for their song Hello Hello.

The video, directed by rock journalist Bert Sulat Jr. and shot by lensman Gari Buenavista, is currently on rotation on MTV as part of the play-list of MTV Jumpstart and other programs.

According to Sulat, "Hello Hello video was partly shot in Medscript a 24/7 medical transcription services company (Global Operations Center, ATC Centre, 148 Katipunan Avenue, St. Ignatius Village, Quezon City)."

The director’s original intention was to create a "call center musical, complete with dancing call center reps." Interesting. The result, though, is a video with lots of quirks, absurdities and deaths-by-telephone. Typical Sago, I should say.
