DOT shortlisted for World Routes award

Catherine Talavera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) has been shortlisted by an international aviation industry body for its marketing efforts.

The DOT was shortlisted in the destination marketing category of the World Routes 2018.

The Routes Marketing Awards are regarded as the most prestigious awards in the aviation industry as they are voted for and judged by the airline network planning community.

The award ceremony will take place during the World Routes 2018 in Guangzhou, China on Sept. 17.

The Philippines was shortlisted in the destination marketing category with other tourism agencies such as Aruba Tourism Authority, Canary Islands Tourist Board-Promotur and Visit Finland.

Last year, the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) received the “highly commended” citation in same awards  for its excellence in airport marketing.

Routes Asia is an annual route development forum and conference that brings together airlines, airports, destinations and other airline stakeholders from Asia and around the world.

Earlier this year, the DOT was also recognized For its Anak TV campaign, which bagged three awards at the first Youtube Ad Awards Philippines.

The minute-long ad, in line with the agency’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign, featured the concepts of fun and hospitality in the Filipino family.

Anak won the Best in Overall Performance, Creative and Media award, which was judged by a six-man panel of advertising and marketing industry experts.
