Globe and TM customers experience strength

-

MANILA, Philippines - Globe and TM customers from Baguio, Pampanga, Bicol, Cebu and Davao experienced the strength and wide reach of Globe’s network, boosted by its continuous rollout to reach a total of 6,446 cell sites today, all over the country. Globe has an investment in the Tata Global Network-Intra Asia Cable System (TGN-IA) that is now ready for service.

Up from 6,217 cellsites in 2007, the continued network expansion of Globe is aimed at delivering a stronger wireless network each year that reaches out to Filipino customers far and wide.

Globe intends to bring a superior network to customers by constantly finding ways to improve network quality such as bringing down the percentage of dropped calls and failed call attempts, which are used to gauge higher quality of service and adherence to operating standards set for mobile operators. Globe’s call success failure rate and dropped call rate significantly improved last year from 2007 as most of Globe’s voice calls are successfully connected and completed, based on regular tests being done by Globe internally to proactively check its network performance for quality of service.

Globe also launched the TGN-IA Cable System, as it is the exclusive landing party in the Philippines. Located in Ballesteros, Cagayan, the Philippines-Japan segment of the TGN-IA Cable System was completed in December 2008 and it is now ready for service. This marks a milestone for Globe as it provides an alternative access around Asia and a more direct route to the United States offering better connections. It also means increased cable diversity and further redundancy for Globe. With Globe’s investment in this submarine cable system, it enables the Philippines to be directly linked to Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Vietnam with onward connectivity to Guam and to the US mainland.

Globe tours the rest of the country as it continues to celebrate Globe and TM’s network strength through a series of free concerts for the youth, which it kicked off last March 14 in Batangas City at the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas. These jam-packed concerts, called “24Ever Sound Trips,” were top-billed by performances of leading Pinoy bands and singers.

The Davao leg of the 24Ever Sound Trips concert series marked record attendance with a crowd of over 20,000 youths. The Davao City concert held last March 15 at Damosa Market Basket featured Pupil, Rico Blanco and Rocksteddy.

Globe visited Angeles City as it held the 24Ever Sound Trips at the Holy Angel University’s Gymnasium last March 20 featuring top Pinoy artists Bamboo and Rico Blanco. In March 23, Globe moved to Naga City as Bamboo. Bugoy Drilon and Pupil performed before the young audience of University of Sta. Isabel.

Last March 26, Globe invaded Cebu City as Rico Blanco and Pupil played for the Cebuanos at Ayala Center Cebu. On March 29, Rico Blanco, Itchyworms and Pedicab performed in Baguio City in celebration of Globe and TM’s network strength at the 24Ever Sound Trips held in Athletic Bowl.

The youth of Baguio, Pampanga, Bicol, Cebu and Davao praise Globe’s good network quality and expressed their various experiences. “Clear po yung connections namin through text man or call,” said Shayne Fontanilla, a student in Angeles City. Another student, Jehrami Silva, said, “Yung sa Globe mas pinasarap ang kuwentuhan namin mga family at friends ko, sing sarap ng sisig dito sa Pampanga.”

“Okay naman ang pagpasok ng mga messages niya. Hindi naman siya nadedelay,” said Cielo Salagoste, a student in Naga City.

A Davao City student Jason Gumanid said, “Ang linis linis ng linya. Walang problema talaga pag Unlicalls Nyt.” Student Edrianne Beth Jaso added, “Kasi kahit nasa beach ako, nasa Samal Island, kabilang island yun ah, yun super linaw tapos may signal pa rin.”

Globe delivers on its promise — Abot ko ang mundo — to its customers with its strong signal that delivers instant connections for fast sending and receiving of text messages and voice calls. With Globe, customers get to easily reach out to family and friends from different parts of the country and anywhere in the world.

Globe brings affordable text offers like Unlitxt All Day for unlimited Globe-to-Globe and Globe-to-TM texts for a day at only P20, and EverybodyTXT for 100 Globe-to-Globe and Globe-to-TM texts plus 10 texts to other networks also at only P20, that allow Globe and TM customers greater ease in sending those short but immediate messages.

Globe also offers the most number of OFW services worldwide through Globe Kababayan, bridging the distance between OFWs and their families so they stay in touch always. Globe’s per second IDD rates remain unmatched and it offers the cheapest call rate to US from a mobile. It is also the first mobile operator in the Philippines to enable international MMS. Globe brings the “worldwidest” coverage to OFWs and their families with its more than 500 partner networks around the world.
