Connoisseur Catering cooks up Christmas dinner #goals

MANILA, Philippines - There was this joke back in high school about using “degustation” in a sentence — it’s still funny even now that I actually know what it means. The practice of degustacion has been around for quite some time, but it’s only recently become popular. Chef Stefan Langenhan, executive chef of Connoisseur Catering, has been preparing degustation menus for nearly a decade and has 25 years of culinary experience working around the world for hotels and kitchens. One can say he’s one of the first to offer it in Manila. With Connoisseur Catering, a relatively young business from the same group that brought us Casa Armas, you can have chef Stefan at your house, preparing a full holiday degustation menu.

“We at Connoisseur Catering can bring the grand dining experience to your kitchen. We aim to make every meal and affair more memorable by crafting a menu that is especially made for your party,” he says. “We don’t aim to simply satiate your hunger, we want to gift you with a complete dining experience and take you on an exciting journey through the world of flavor.”

Connoisseur Catering serves exotic Asian cuisine, Western favorites, and fusion flavors. During the preparation period before the event, a dedicated chef will discuss your requirements and preferences for a personalized menu. “From big functions that require buffet meals for 300 guests, to intimate dinners that showcase 10 courses, Connoisseur Catering offers flexibility, affordability and convenience,” he says.

Being a partner of The Function Rooms at Bonifacio Global City, you can also have your degustation dinner in any of its rooms, which can hold small meetings of 12 to large conferences of 260. The Function Rooms has seven rooms and is fitted with top-of-the-line equipment. Connoisseur Catering offers 12 set menus and three buffet menus. The degustation menu is P2,950 per person for 10 courses.

We recently had a chance to sample their holiday menu, and chef Stefan gave us sage advice on how to enjoy extraordinary — literally not something you have every day — dishes: “Just savor the experience.”
