What are you grateful for?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

I’ve learned that the key to happiness is to always be grateful for everything that happens in my life. When things don’t happen as I planned — like when a friend betrays me, or when I experience an unfortunate incident — I choose to look at the positive side, remain grateful and count my blessings. I always turn away from bitterness or sadness.

We live in a complicated world, with the turn of events happening so fast all around us, it is in finding time to pause, pray and be grateful for all the positive things in our lives that bring us back to achieving the balance we need in our lives. It is in this balance where we can find the peace and contentment we are looking for.

I’m really grateful for my beloved parents who lovingly raised me with the right values and made me love and appreciate my Filipino and German heritage.

Marissa Concepcion, wife and mother

I am grateful for my life and for all the blessings that have been given to me. First, I am grateful for getting to know the Lord and for having a relationship with Him. He is the anchor in my life.  Starting at a very young age, this is what kept my faith. Next to my parents who have taught me about God, I would say, I am grateful for my life and what the Lord has blessed me with.

I am grateful for my parents who have taught me about living for God and have shown me the values, priorities of family. Now, I understand why it was inculcated in us. I am deeply grateful to God for a good and loving partner, my husband, Joey. We share the same values and commitments. He, too, has a god relationship with the Lord. I admire his dedication and hardwork. Because of the fruit of our love, we have five blessings. They are our pride and joy. After all these, God blessed me with all the relationships of family and friends who have been with us and have given us  good times, lots of insights and support.

I’m grateful for my parents. Growing up, they allowed me to explore every opportunity, every skill and to have a good education. They both came from poor backgrounds, so they wanted me to have every chance in life, that wasn’t particularly present in theirs. They’ve supported me all throughout and I feel that they are a big part of the reason I get to do what I do today. This is why I’m so grateful for them.

Franco Laurel, actor/singer/blogger

I am grateful for all the blessings in my life. Number one on that list is my family. They are the wind beneath my wing, who have given me unconditional love. My wife, Ayen and my children Mariella, Hasan, Angia and our baby that is coming this February inspire me to be the best husband and father I can be. I am grateful to my parents and my siblings who have given me love and support all my life. I am grateful for the gift of song and the opportunities God has given me to use the talents he has blessed me with, to do what I really love to do. I am most grateful for the love and grace of God who fuels my soul to be the best person He created me to be.

My children. Paris. And fine chocolate.

Kitchie Benedicto Paulino, producer, director, businesswoman

My common sense because it really isn’t common!

Gionna Jimenez Cabrera, model, bag designer, former beauty queen

Grateful for endeavors that strengthen my faith to always look up and appreciate all the daily blessings shared with loved ones.

Kakai Arroyo, businesswoman

My family is the biggest blessing of my life. I give thanks for them everyday. My parents and parents-in-law have never failed to show me unconditional love and support through the years. My husband Dato is my bestfriend and a loyal, loving partner. And my three children are my endless sources of inspiration and pride.

Louie Heredia, singer

I am grateful for many things.  God has been very good and has blessed me with many wonderful things. First of all,  for having a close-knit family. We are just like one big barkada, when we are all together. I am also grateful for the singing voice God has given me and the ability to use it to make people happy. I am thankful that I am able to use my celebrity status to serve as a role model to the less fortunate. And lastly, I am grateful for the real friends I have.  There is nothing like having a true friend you can talk to and share anything and everything under the sun.
