The Rolls-Royce of chocolate, literally
The days of hoarding precious Royce’ chocolate from neighboring countries like Hong Kong and Singapore will soon be over when the first free-standing Royce’ store opens next month at Rockwell’s Power Plant Mall.
Royce’, as you know, is one of the most popular, most requested pasalubong among Filipino travelers.
According to Cecile Ang of Royce’ Manila, the Artisanal Corporation is responsible for bringing it in, with an exclusive contract with Royce’ Japan.
“All the products you see in Singapore or Hong Kong will be available here. However, the cakes, coffee and chocolate jam they have in Japan is exclusive to Hokkaido, where Royce’ originates from,” Ang said.
“We’ll definitely stock Royce’ bestsellers such as the Nama Chocolate, Potatochip Chocolate, Nutty Bar Chocolate, Baton Cookies, Chocolate Wafers and Pure Chocolate.
“Prices will be similar to Hong Kong and Malaysia, as we are the most heavily taxed among the countries that Royce’ exports to, but we’re really trying to make the price as competitive as possible,” she added.
The store will be about 29 square meters on the 3rd level of the mall.
For those living closer to the Manila area, Royce’ will also be available at the Diamond Hotel this Christmas season.
“Then by next year we will probably open another shop,” Ang said.
Now comes the new problem, what pasalubong to take home from those trips?
