MANILA, Philippines — Calls for justice over the death of a community cat in Taguig continue as more animal groups paid tribute to the beloved feline.

The cat, a female named Ghost, was reportedly attacked by three huskies while they were being walked by a male individual, who allegedly left behind the injured animal.

Witnesses rushed Ghost to a veterinary clinic, seeing that she sustained injuries; however, the cat died because of complications.

Volunteer group Cats of McKinley assured followers that it was consulting with an animal welfare group in order to thoroughly determine how to handle the owner of the dog accountable.

Cats of McKinley also advised not flood fellow volunteer group Cats of BGC with messages as Ghost was under the care of the former. The group added that they would continue to share updates about all their community cats, as well as major updates about Ghost's case once available.

"We're working with BIYAYA Legal Team na to give justice for Ghost. Patience lang ang hinihingi namin. Thank you," the group said in response to one social media user.

McKinley West Cats, a sub-group of Cats of McKinley, recently shared a tribute video for Ghost with images of the community cat.

The video recounted how volunteers first knew of Ghost during feeding nights and the cat would be watching from afar on a closed footbridge until one day she eventually approached them.

"It wasn't just food, it was safety that kept her here," said the group. "The kindness from people had become her new fortress."

The group lamented how Ghost was not able to find a proper home before her untimely death, pondering what would have happened if the cat remained hidden.

After a flurry of photos of Ghost, the video ended with text reading: "Thank you our dear Puspin friend. You gave us more than we deserved."
