MANILA, Philippines — Original Pilipino Music (OPM) band Orange and Lemons quipped about naming their fan club as Sharmaineans amid the viral Sharmaine, Vanessa and Melanie meme.

The band, who is currently touring in Europe, posted on Facebook their idea.

"Magtatayo na ba kame ng bagong fans club? SHARMAINEANS," the band wrote, which drew laughter emojis from Facebook users.

Comedian Marlon Tapalord posted on Facebook that the band will be named Sharmaine and Lemons when the appeal will be notarized.

Different brands online also joined the trend as SM City Legazpi used the name Sharmaine for their oranges and Melanie for their avocados.

The meme began when content creator Baett uploaded a video of an orange questioning why she had to settle for a name after her color, unlike other fruits who bear a different name from their color.

The fruit said that she would rather be named Sharmaine than Orange. The Avocado fruit has the same concern and suggested Melanie as her name.

“Naiinis naman ako ‘te kasi parang ‘di naman ako pinag-isipan. O ‘di ba ikaw ang pangalan mo ay mango, pero dilaw ka naman. Parang obvious naman kasi sa’kin te, orange, wala na bang ibang pangalan? Kaloka naman,” the orange character said.

In another video, a fly also expresses the same frustration and suggesting Vanessa as her preferred name.

Tapalord reacted by posting that the OPM band Mojofly will now be called Mojo Vanessa.

Bored Lawyer Facebook page said that one cannot simply change name through a notarized document or affidavit.

"Under Article 376 of the Civil Code of the Philippines, “No person can change his name or surname without judicial authority. The law requires compliance with the proper legal procedure, whether through a petition for change of name under Rule 103 of the Rules of Court, a petition under Rule 108 for substantial corrections in the civil registry, or an administrative petition under Republic Act No. 9048 (as amended by R.A. No. 10172) when applicable.

"A notarized affidavit is not a substitute for these legal processes. At most, it may serve as supporting evidence, but it does not by itself legally change a person’s name.

"For an Orange to be changed to Sharmaine, mukhang hindi pasok sa admin petition sa Local Civil Registrar ng Munisipyo yang issue mo, iha. Mukha naman kasi hindi ridiculous, dishonorable at extremely difficult to write or pronounce ang name mo. In fact, everybody loves you.

"Pero kung bet mo pa rin maging Sharmaine, pag-usapan natin. Basta ba ready ka magbayad ng fee, nothing is ever too difficult kay attorney."
