MANILA, Philippines - Who designed the Philippine Post Office Building?

The Post Office building near Plaza Lawton is one of Manila’s most enduring landmarks. It was designed in the Neoclassical style, which was the predominant architectural style during the Commonwealth period. The architect is a National Artist for Architecture, who was also recognized as an important painter, being the harbinger of modernism from the School of Paris. Among the buildings he designed in the same Neoclassical style were the Legislative Building in Manila and the Villamor Hall, which was part of the UP Manila Campus and is now the Supreme Court building. He also designed the Metropolitan Theater in Manila, which is a primary example of Art Deco style in the country.
