Spike up your experience with a bigger, better Globe

-

MANILA, Philippines - Brace yourself for the biggest spike in your mobile phone experience as Globe Telecom embarks on its largest and most massive modern network rollout to date, providing better text, call and data services to almost 30 million subscribers throughout the country.

The Conservatory at The Peninsula Manila was transformed into a futuristic, hi-tech playground with the launch of the biggest network modernization program of Globe, designed to provide a more stable, resilient and reliable network to its growing subscriber base. Over 150 guests composed of Globe executives, territorial sales distributors and resellers, media and vendor partners were treated to a sensory rush with themed AVPs and amped-up techno music mixes, showcasing the future of Globe with the rollout of its modern, future-proof mobile network.

Globe said its customers have acquired a growing sophistication and appetite for richer and bandwidth-heavy services that require bigger capacity and faster connectivity. These new demands, along with basic SMS and voice services, need higher network capacity and capabilities in a scale and intensity that challenges its existing network’s capabilities.

“What we’re trying to do today is to build a network that does not only address the challenges related to our current network set-up, but create an infrastructure that will cater to the traffic profile of the future,” said Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu. Part of the new network rollout is to widen Globe 3G footprint across the country, as well as accommodate next-generation mobile technologies such as HSPA+ and LTE. Globe will invest US$790 million to support the program over the next five years, with the rollout expected to be completed within two to three years.

With this initiative, Globe customers bid farewell to prompts like “message sending failed” or “unable to establish call connection,” and say hello to crystal- clear calls, text messages sent and received in the blink of an eye, and zero buffering during multimedia content download and streaming. The Globe mobile network will be re-planned and re-tooled with intelligent capabilities to ensure that Filipinos are connected all the time through their mobile phone.

The modern Globe network will double the use of fiber optics that it has today, making it more resilient to weather disturbances. It is optimized to make services available even during prolonged commercial power outages during disasters so subscribers will experience uninterrupted connectivity at the most critical times.
