Triple chocolate treat

MANILA, Philippines - Ah chocolate! Did you know that nine out of 10 people love chocolate? As for the 10th person — well, he’s probably lying! My love for chocolate is pure and unadulterated. I love chocolate cake the most — the more moist, the better for me. The more chocolatey, the better. The thicker the chocolate icing, the better. I can never get enough of it — like a schmaltzy love story that tugs at my heartstrings. But I thought I’d seen it all — and eaten it all — until I saw this Triple Chocolate Roll staring at me from the gleaming glass shelf of a Red Ribbon bakeshop and calling out to me: “Try me, try me!”

Now, who can resist such a sweet invitation? Certainly not my chocolate-loving heart! For this Triple Chocolate Roll is pure chocolate bliss multiplied by three. It’s inarguably the chocolatiest roll out on the market today. Even the name oozes chocolate goodness and rolls off your tongue.

So, today, on top of my to-do list, I write, “Eat your Triple Chocolate Roll.” Unlike most things I keep putting off, at least for today, I happily accomplish one thing.

Now, you might ask what’s in my Triple Chocolate Roll, why it deserves to be in the honor roll as far as chocolate rolls go. Let me share with you (or those who have yet to try it) more than three reasons to love this triple chocolate treat or the latest chocolate craze in town. Red Ribbon’s Triple Chocolate Roll is made of chocolate chiffon that’s deliciously light with just the right sweetness (good for the lips and the hips). It’s laced with delicate chocolate drizzles and crowned with chocolate curls (which I’m tempted to instantly devour like I would my favorite chocolate bar). It’s beautifully wrapped in chocolate icing, like a delicious gift waiting to be unraveled. Much to my delight, I discover a lot more chocolate inside my roll! Now, this roll really rocks!

When it comes to chocolate, Red Ribbon gave it all it’s got on the Triple Chocolate Roll. It easily puts Red Ribbon in the starring role as far as chocolate rolls are concerned. And not just any kind of chocolate. It’s got that unique chocolate flavor I’ve never tasted before. I can only imagine how many kinds of good chocolate went into making this delicious chocolate masterpiece that the chocolate gods must have conspired to create.

And would you believe that smelling my Triple Chocolate Roll, as it gives off an array of aromas, is probably the only aromatherapy I’ll ever need after a hard day’s work?

Enjoy It Hot Or Cold

Here are other sweet discoveries I’ve stumbled on along the way. The thick chocolate icing doesn’t harden even when you put the Triple Chocolate Roll in the ref. Of course, you can eat it cold. But I like to heat a slice (about an inch thick) of the roll in the microwave for about five seconds, just to melt the chocolate a wee bit. Let me share with you my ritual when I eat my Triple Chocolate Roll alone at home after a stressful day at work, usually in the wee morning hours. As one chocolate-eating expert advises, I don’t let anything distract me when I’m eating my Triple Chocolate Roll, giving it the respect it deserves by turning off the TV and my cell phone. Now, I’m ready for this guilt-free indulgence. I take out the piece of my Triple Chocolate Roll I heated in the microwave — you can try putting it in the toaster, too, and the result is just as yummy — and gently dig into it while the melted chocolate is still a bit hot, letting it coat my tongue as I luxuriate in probably the chocolatiest experience of my life.

Of course, if you don’t like to eat your Triple Chocolate Roll hot or cold, you can eat it at room temperature and let the chocolate melt in your mouth the moment it touches your tongue — rich, velvety, and luscious!

 I usually take my warm Triple Chocolate Roll with a glass of cold milk and then I’m off to sweet slumber. But if you like to eat it cold, you can enjoy it best with a perfect cup of hot coffee. Or how about hot or iced tea? Or simply hot water? And here’s one really cool suggestion: Warm the roll a bit and pair it off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that melts at the slightest touch of the warm chocolate. Truly a match made in heaven!

Everyday Snack or Dessert

With the Triple Chocolate Roll, I — and some mommies I know — just discovered a snack fare or dessert we can have every day, rain or shine. Why, it’s so convenient to have around when the craving kicks in. It’s lighter than cakes, so I can have it anytime of the day — even for breakfast to jump-start my day. I will certainly recommend this as pang- recess or baon for my pamangkins in school — just put it in a Tupperware or a similar container and it’s good to go. I read a testimony that says this roll is good for group studies or when studying for exams — experts say chocolate is good for the memory, though it may not guarantee landing a spot in the honor roll.

One other delicious thing about this roll? It’s the chocolatiest roll you can have at the most affordable prices: P29.50 per slice, P195 per half roll, and P299 for a whole roll (about 12 to 16 slices, depending on the desired thickness).

To end this sweet story, even as the chocolate leaves my mouth, its flavor lingers on and on, making me long for my Triple Chocolate Roll more and more.
