Silverworks shines in Korea
MANILA, Philippines - The Tourism Promotions Board of the Department of Tourism selected four-year-old EchoStore to organize the participation of the Philippines in the Yeosu Expo in Korea’s south seaport city.
Led by Pacita Juan and Reena Francisco, EchoStore is known for promoting sustainable lifestyle products like health food aromatherapy products, local snacks, premium coffee, as well as specialty nuts and chips.
Some of the special items included silver jewelry from Silverworks, T’boli necklaces from Mindanao, pearl necklaces and other accessories, complete the collection presented in the fisherman basket-inspired shop.
Pacita observed that the mostly-Korean crowd chose silver or steel pendants like anchors, fish and other marine life designs. She also shared that Koreans who have lived in the Philippines identified so much with everything in the pavilion — from dried mangoes to the jeepney models that decorate the souvenir shop. They introduced the mangoes to their friends and told stories about riding the jeepney and going to the beach.
From food to jewelry, Koreans enjoy the gems that the Philippines has to offer.
