Winner takes all fashion goodies

VOGUE VAGABOND - Raya Mananquil -

Their eyes glistened with joy. Or was the sparkle coming from the reflecting, glistening holiday ornaments that decorated the Marks & Spencer store in Greenbelt 5?

The girls and their mom looked at all the fashion choices — sheer blouses, metallic sweaters, smart blazers, and glamorous cocktail dresses. And they could choose a lot from these selections!

That’s because their mom, Adelina See, won a P100,000 shopping spree from Citibank. This accountant wore a classic black shift dress with a skinny belt, slung on her shoulder was a designer handbag that perfectly matched her leather sandals. Clearly, this is a woman who loves to shop.

Look what we chose: Gen and Glaiza See with style guru Raya Mananquil

With her were her brood Glaiza, Gen, Gabe and Glazon. The girls were junior versions of their mother wearing classic pieces with luxe accessories. The two eldest sisters, Glaiza and Gen, were going to have their share in the spree. On that day, I was appointed “style guru” to these two youngsters. After all, they might need some help spending all that money. Then again, maybe not.

While Adelina was rolling in the deep at the women’s section, the two girls and I headed to the Marks & Spencer Limited Collection section. Here we found fringe tops, textured black leggings, maroon shorts, suede scalloped hem high waist shorts and shimmery shirts— an assortment of on trend pieces that would delight teens up to thirty-somethings.

They all had five hours to spend this hundred grand, but did they really need that much time? By the end of their shopping frenzy, Adelina had strategically divided her purchases into practical items (food, body care toiletries), sensible (office wear, Christmas gifts) and a few indulgences (cocktail dresses). Glaiza and Gen, on the other hand, had a brand new wardrobe. Choosing their favorite head-to-toe outfit, they strutted their new threads around the store.

“This is really a happy birthday for me!” Adelina exclaims, who turned 53 that day, but I swore looked ten years younger. Adelina regularly shops at the Marks & Spencer store in Shangri-La Plaza mall. But months ago, she decided to visit the Greenbelt branch ,using her Citibank credit card for the purchase. This special promo of Citibank Philippines gave her the chance to win one of five P100,000 shopping sprees at Marks & Spencer. Adele, along with Erlinda Salvador, Dr. Francis Altarejos, Arlene Basilio, and Jobina Haw were the winning names called during the November 11 raffle draw.

“I love the perks. I feel so lucky owning a Citibank card. It’s so easy to use.I have never experienced any problem using it, “Adelina shares.

As a longtime holder of three Citibank credit cards: Citibank Platinum Visa, Rustan’s Citibank Card and Shell Citibank Card, this is not the first time Adelina has experienced such shopping perks. She has in fact, also won a similar promo with Citibank-Rustan’s some years ago. “I’m quite lucky when it comes to contests.”

It is probably because she always shares her blessings with her loved ones. And in this case, the blessings came back to her a hundredfold.
