Singapore Embassy’s tree-planting activity

MANILA, Philippines — Following a successful inaugural tree-planting event organized by the Singapore Embassy last year, the embassy held its second tree-planting activity last Jan. 13. The community event drew the participation of national and local government officials, notably Sen. Cynthia Villar, chairperson of the Senate committee on environment and natural resources, and representatives of the DENR, the office of Taguig City Mayor Laarni Cayetano, the Taguig City Environment and Natural Resources Office and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, Singaporean residents in Manila and the diplomatic community.
A hundred Narra and Molave saplings, which are indigenous and endangered plants in the Philippines, were planted in Greenway Park, the largest urban park in the metro.
The annual event aims to support the country’s efforts to protect the country’s rich biodiversity as well as to give back to Bonifacio Global City, which is the gracious host to the site of the Singapore Embassy.
