MANILA, Philippines — The 2018 Philippines YEARBOOK was launched on Jan. 18, 2018 at the “C” lounge of Conrad Manila at the SM MOA complex. On its cover are the Philippines’ four past presidents Fidel V. Ramos, Joseph Ejercito Estrada, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Benigno S. Aquino III. The book is entitled the “Change Generation” as the presidents’ combined years of service totaled 25 years, a quarter century of our country’s journey of change and progress. ?It was probably the most STAR-studded ?cocktail reception of The YEARBOOK, not only with two former president?s FVR and GMA attending, but also for the earliest to arrive, Sen. Cynthia Villar. Everyone was thoroughly impressed with the six-star buffet laid out by Conrad, which included lobster bis?que, prime rib and many, many others;? ?plus the flowing fine wine and alcoholic beverages sponsored by Ralph’s Wine and Philippine Wine Merchant.

On its 82nd year, The YEARBOOK is a family legacy founded by Dr. Jimmy Go Puan Seng in 1936 as an offshoot of The Fookien Times daily, the country’s largest circulated and most respected Chinese language newspaper in the Philippines. The YEARBOOK survived a world war in the late 30’s to early 40’s; was allowed to continue through the martial law years, being the only publication of its kind, and onwards past the EDSA revolution.

Dr. Jimmy Go’s youngest daughter Grace Glory Go, chairman and CEO; and grandson Vernon Go, president and publisher, together with guest editor-in-chief, Paulo Alcazaren, a columnist of The Philippine STAR, carry on this public service of informing our people and the world what keep?s our nation changing and growing.  Photos by JOEY VIDUYA / Bening Batuigas
