MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-American singer and former Pussycat Dolls lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger will be making her Broadway debut as she reprises her role of Norma Desmond from the third West End revival of "Sunset Boulevard."

Scherzinger will be joined by her West End castmates Tom Francis, Grace Hodgett-Young, and Olivier Award-winner David Thaxton as their London shows close soon in the move to Broadway.

Details such as the venue, dates, and additional casting have yet to be disclosed, but the production will likely premiere during the latter half of 2024 and Scherzinger will play Desmond for around six months.

"Sunset Boulevard" is based on Billy Wilder's 1950 film of the same name about a struggling screenwriter and a former silent-film actress who yearns for a return to stardom.

The latter character, Desmond, was famously portrayed by Gloria Swanson who was received a Best Actress Oscar nomination. The film itself had 11 nods in total including Best Picture, winning three.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, Don Black, and Christopher Hampton adapted "Sunset Boulevard" for the stage in 1993 where Patti LuPone then Betty Buckley played Desmond on West End, while Glenn Close originated her on Broadway.

This new stripped-down reiteration is directed and produced by Jamie Lloyd, and Scherzinger's West End performances was described by The New York Times as "career-defining" and The Washington Post as "the perfect Norma Desmond."

Scherzinger previously starred in the West End revival of another Lloyd Webber classic "Cats" as Grizabella, for which she received a Olivier Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and has been a judge on several reality competition shows including "X Factor" and "The Masked Singer."
