Botong Francisco and Francisco Coching at National Museum
MANILA, Philippines - The National Museum, Vibal Foundation, and the families of National Artist Botong Francisco and Francisco Coching families present “Telling Modern Time: The Life and Art of Botong Francisco and Francisco Coching” which is on until Jan. 11, 2010 at the National Museum, Agrifina Circle, Rizal Park, Manila.
The landmark exhibition traces the discourse between the high art of painting and the low media of komiks and graphic design in the works of National Artist Botong Francisco and Francisco Coching.
It features approximately 100 works by Botong and Coching, spanning a fascinating range of material, including komiks excerpts, murals, prints, sketches, and memorabilia. The exhibition is accompanied by a limited-edition numbered box set, available only at the opening night.

‘Past Future Perfect’ at Tala Gallery
Tala Gallery holds its year-end show “Past Future Perfect” which is on view until Jan. 10, 2010 at Tala Gallery, 100 Scout De Guia Street, Quezon City.
The show looks back at past accomplishments and challenges, and looking ahead towards new opportunities. The title is appropriate since the show marks several significant milestones: the end of the year and the beginning of a new one; the end of the first decade of the 21st century and the start of the next; and, the first anniversary of Tala Gallery.

‘Kulay sa Tubig’ winners named
"Kulay sa Tubig" Invitational Watercolor Competition Exhibition announced the top five watercolorists for 2009.
Now in its sixth year, "Kulay sa Tubig," which is sponsored by Gallery Genesis, is the country’s most prestigious aquarelle show. The winners are Danny Doce for “Nurturing Passion”; Billy Pomida for “Some Like it Hot”; Nel Canasa for “Bankang Papel”; Nik Masangcay for “Sa Paghupa”; and Ronald Velasco for “Munting Liwanag.” They received trophies and cash prizes.
The runners up are Tony Alcoseba, Jaime Gubaton, Ronald Jeresano, Peter Sutcliffe and Angelito “Jo” Florendo.
The “Best of the Best” award, which is given to Hall of Famers (who have won three times), went to Egai Fernandez for “Paglumuha ang Langit” and Pablo Baen Santos for “Meltdown.”
The winning works are on view until Dec. 18 at Gallery Genesis, Suite 1004, West Tower, 10th floor, Philippine Stock Exchange Centre (Tektite), Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

‘Boxed — The Start of a Conversation’ at Blanc Mandaluyong
Over 40 women artists think, converse and relate their practice with one another in “Boxed — The Start of a Conversation” which is on view at Blanc Compound in Mandaluyong City.
“Boxed” was conceptualized in 2006 by artists J. Pacena and Buen Calubayen as a series of exhibitions for artists and the artistically inclined.
The exhibit is “Boxed” fourth installment. Subtitled “The Start of a Conversation,” the show begins a dialogue but anticipates its extension beyond the exhibition.

Jose Santos III at Art Informal
Shuffling the mundane vestiges of a storyteller’s store, Jose Santos III reconfigures the constructs of perception in “{Un}Common” which opens on Dec. 19, 2009 at Art Informal, 277 Connecticut St., Greenhills East, Mandaluyong City. The show runs until Jan. 9, 2010.0
