Born to shine

MULTIPLE CHOICE - Luis Espiritu Jr. - The Philippine Star
Born to shine

January 2017 kicked off with one of the biggest power and style events — “People of the Year.”

People of the Year is a yearly recognition given by the award-winning PeopleAsia magazine to individuals who have made an impact on society and on the lives of others.

The well-attended gathering held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza sparkled with Manila’s powerhouse diplomatic community, industry leaders, A-listers, fashion insiders, high society, celebrities and noted personalities.

A spectrum of style paraded the red carpet as seen on billowing gowns, dazzling dresses and modern ensembles. Bold and pastel hues flowed into a sea of the style. A variety of silhouettes revealed modern dressing in statement forms of sophistication. The unforgettable evening sparkled with diamonds and pearls in their most simple or empowering refined settings. While dashing men came polished in their most elegant and crisp black suits.

The overall style landscape at the People of the Year 2017 event revealed a certain “nowness” in fashion. The dazzling guests showcased individuality in their manner of dressing. The standard code was modernized according to comfort and personal style. The dynamic scene was an insight to changing fashion.

Though there are rules to the code of dressing in formal occasions, the age of “nowness” is rethinking the standard. Nowadays, it’s no longer what or who you wear or if it is lifted from the pages of a magazine. The call of the times is all about you. Because like the rest of us,  we are all stars born to shine in this universe.
