A celebration of love

Nothing compares with savoring an intimate dinner with close friends–and good memories to spice up the experience.
One such occasion was at Mely and Paing Hechanova’s 48th wedding anniversary celebration, a relaxed and casual get-together.
Her debonair husband, Paing, former Olympian, basketball icon and Rotary big boss, helped gracious Mely, socialite, jetsetter, philanthropist and jewel of the Concepcion clan, in welcoming friends from their innermost circle. Ed and Renna Hechanova-Angeles’ lush garden became the venue of the al fresco sit-down dinner.
Those of us there have known each other from 20 to as long as 54 years! Memories filled the night air with laughter. Your columnist even kidded the guests that their friendship has lasted longer than half of the marriages in the Philippines!
The Hechanovas prepared so much food everyone must have gone home three to five pounds heavier! Aside from the soups and salads, Mely prepared 14 dishes and 12 desserts, each as delicious as the next.
Mely and Paing remain as sweet as ever; the years only add strength to their marriage. To the couple, I wish you more happiness and many, many more wedding anniversaries!
Fashion empress Zenaida "Nedy" Tantoco scored another fashion coup by presenting Kate Spade, a byword among the chic upper class, to the delight of the best dressed and the budding fashionistas.
Nedy and hardworking son Anton Huang hosted a special sit-down dinner in honor of Alan Goodman, Kate Spade director of international business in the tastefully-appointed private room of Makati Shangri-La’s Cheval Blanc.
A select guest list of the most fashionable people graced the dinner of Thai Basil-Crusted Chilean Sea Bass with Garlic Toast Chips and Bouillabaisse Sauce, Asian Barbecue Rack of Lamb with Crushed Sweet Potato, Grilled Asparagus and Fermented Black Bean Jus and fine wines.
Among the guests were socialite Dianna Jeanne Lopez; dapper Gen. Sonny Yan; Irene Francisco; Anton San Diego; and a resplendent Nina Huang.
