MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area east of Mindanao is forecast to develop into a tropical cyclone before the end of the week, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The LPA could intensify into tropical cyclone Rosal in the next few days. PAGASA said the weather system was monitored 870 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 3 p.m.

The trough of the LPA and shear line are already bringing rains over parts of the country. The trough will bring scattered rain showers over Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas and Bicol region.

Meanwhile, the shear line is affecting Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte where scattered rain showers are expected.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will see isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned of flooding and rain-induced landslides, especially in high-risk areas.

Temperatures in Metro Manila will range between 24 to 32 degrees Celsius today.
