MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Military Academy said it is cooperating with the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation in investigating the death of a newly entered cadet.

Plebe Darwin Dormitorio died of cardiac arrest secondary to internal bleeding, according to a report of CNN Philippines. The 20-year-old cadet from Cagayan de Oro reportedly started vomiting inside the barracks of Fort Del Pilar in Baguio City.

He was then brought to the PMA Station Hospital and was later declared dead.

In a statement, PMA said it has initiated cooperation with “competent and proper” authorities to investigate the death of Dormitorio.

“The PNP Scene of the Crime Operatives and National Bureau of Investigation have been invited to ensure fair, objective and transparent investigation,” PMA said.

It said it is extending necessary support to the family of Dormitorio.

“We ask for the understanding of the public in respecting the privacy of the family and the PMA community to grieve the passing of Cadet Fourth class Darwin Dormitorio,” PMA added.
